Reverend George M. Mink

Reverend Mink’s favorite verse is Isiah 55:8-9 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. “For as the Heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Reverend George Mink is a native of Philadelphia, PA and he’s one of seven children born to Mary Scott. He attended Philadelphia Public School and graduated from Bartrim High School. He attended Philadelphia Community College where his field of study was Business Administration.

He was introduced to Christ by Reverend Fred W. Sherman. He was encouraged by Reverend Sherman to attend The Church of God in the Lord Jesus Christ where he later joined and accepted Christ. After serving in various capacity of the church such as superintendent of Sunday school, taught Bible Class, the president of the Evangelical team, and being a part of the prison Ministry of the Baptist Missionary for Christ Organization in Philadelphia, PA.

He later received his calling to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Reverend Sherman encouraged him to attend Philadelphia College of Bible which he studied in New Testament and received his degree. He further his theological studies by enrolling in Eastern Baptist Seminary and received the Master of Divinity Degree in Old Testament. He became an ordained minister under the leadership of Bishop Edward Nesbitt and Elder James Lassister.

After relocating to Virginia, he united with The Oak Grove Baptist Church with his wife Janice and they are the proud parents of two children, Paula and Matthew, one son-in-law, Asri and one grandson, Eli. He immediately continued in service for the Lord serving as president of the Brotherhood Fellowship Ministry, a member of the Evangelism Team, he was a Sunday school teacher, and sang with the Male Chorus. Under the tutelage of Reverend Doctor Hennie Brown, Jr, he began study for the Baptist Ordination examination under the National Baptist Association and received his ordination license in May 2007.

In July 2007, he was blessed to become the servant of Second Mount Olive Baptist Church, Hamilton, VA.
